The Archiv Geiger is currently hosting the exhibition "Geist und Materie" ("Spirit and Matter").

At the age of 95, Rupprecht Geiger has created another highlight in his body of work, entitled 'Geist und Materie' which t ‘Spirit and Matter’. The result is six paintings and several print editions, which are visually characterised by the clash between powerful, sometimes modulated colour and untreated, grey canvas.
Geiger sees the spirit of colour in the colour that radiates from the picture, floats in the light and is not bound by matter.
The encounter of colour with the ‘morbid’ matter therefore takes the form of an almost brutal collision. Geiger further intensifies the combination of dead matter and vibrant colour in his final creative years, for example by combining a bright pink canvas with driftwood or assembling found objects from nature and everyday life into colourful collages.
